WHAT IS THAILAND ELITE?
Thailand Elite is a visa program designed for affluent individuals, offering long-term visas valid for 5, 10, or 20 years. Supported by the Thai government, the program aims to attract tourists who either wish to stay in Thailand for extended periods or visit frequently. Though officially a tourist visa, it comes with many added benefits and is issued based on a letter from Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE THAILAND ELITE VISA?
The Thailand Elite Visa is targeted at high-income individuals. Typically, these are tourists who can afford long-term rentals or are looking to buy property in Thailand. There are two visa options—individual and family visas. Individual visas start at THB 600,000 (approximately $17,400), while family visas begin at THB 800,000 (around $23,300). Additional family members, such as children or parents, can be added for a fee. The total cost depends on the visa duration and the privileges included.
To qualify for the Thailand Elite Visa, applicants must meet several conditions:
- No criminal record (minor offences and accidental crimes are exceptions).
- Be at least 20 years old and hold a valid passport.
- Not be bankrupt or mentally ill.
- Follow Thai laws during their stay in the country.
- Have no previous visa overstay records in Thailand.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE THAILAND ELITE VISA?
Holders of the Thailand Elite Visa enjoy numerous perks. Not only does it allow you to live in Thailand for the visa's duration, but it also permits unlimited entries and exits. You can travel freely to and from Thailand, with each entry allowing you to stay for up to a year.
Additionally, Thailand Elite members receive exclusive services, including:
- Personal escort upon arrival in Thailand.
- Expedited immigration and passport control.
- VIP lounge access at Thai airports.
- Free airport transfers within 50–80 km.
- Special privileges at golf clubs.
- Assistance with opening a bank account.
- Support with paperwork (e.g., getting an international driving license or submitting residence notifications).
- Discounts at hotels, resorts, restaurants, and medical facilities, including health check-ups (based on partnerships at the time).
Furthermore, Thailand Elite Visa holders may be eligible to apply for a resident visa, also available for 5, 10, or 20 years.
What Documents Are Required to Join the Thailand Elite Program?
To apply for the Thailand Elite program, you must submit an application along with the following documents:
- A copy of the identification page of your international passport (ensure that your passport is valid for at least one more year from the date you receive the visa).
- A completed application form signed by the applicant.
- A high-resolution color photo.
- If applying for a family visa, a copy of documents proving your relationship with the family member (such as a marriage certificate or birth certificate) will be required.
Once you submit your documents, they will be verified by the Thai Immigration Office. This process can take anywhere from a few weeks to three months. If everything is in order, the application will be approved. After approval, the visa fee must be paid through a transfer from a local or overseas bank account. Once the payment is received, the applicant will receive a Welcome Letter, which serves as the basis for issuing the visa. You can get the visa stamped upon arrival in Thailand at the airport, but you must inform the member contact center at least five working days before your arrival.
If you are already in Thailand, you will need to visit the main immigration office in Bangkok to collect your visa. Thailand Elite will arrange the appointment, and a personal assistant will assist you in obtaining the visa.
While you can apply for the Thailand Elite Visa directly through Thailand Elite, it is often more efficient to use intermediaries due to the high volume of applications.
It is important to note that this visa does not grant permission to work in Thailand. It only allows long-term residence, travel, and access to the associated privileges.
